Alabama Fishing License Info

Fishing License Requirements:

  • Resident: Fishing licenses are required for residents ages 16-64 who fish with rod and reel or artificial bait or fish outside county of residence.
    Residents 65 or older must have proof of permanent Alabama residence and age (driver's license).
    Residents may fish in saltwater from a licensed public fishing pier in the inside waters without purchasing a fishing license.
  • Non-Resident: Fishing licenses are required for non-residents ages 16 and older.

Persons age 16 through 64, who have been bina-fide residents of the state of 60 days immediately prior to buying a license, must have a resident license in possession while fishing in Kansas. All licenses expire Dec. 31 each year, except five-day nonresident, lifetime and 24-hour fishing licenses.

Landowners and their immediate family living with them, and tenants renting land for agricultural purposes and members of their immediate family living with them are exempt from fishing license requirements on waters on their own land, even if such waters have been stocked by the Department. If a private pond has been stocked within the last 10 years, guests of the landowner or tenant must have fishing licenses. Otherwise, fishing licenses aren ot required on private ponds. Guests of landowners fishing on streams and rivers must have a fishing licenses.

Anyone residing in Kansas who is at least one-sixteenth American Indian by blood, and so certified by the Bureau of Indian Affairs, may apply to Wildlife and Parks for a free fishing license, which must be in possession when fishing. All other laws and regulations apply to American Indians.

Persons on active duty in the armed forces who entered the service while residing in Kansas may purchase a resident fishing license. Nonresidents on active military duty stationed in Kansas and nonresident students going to school in Kansas are entitled to purchase a resident fishing license, which they must have with them while fishing, along with evidence of active duty or enrollment.

All nonresidents 16 and older must have a valid nonresident license to fish in Kansas (unless fishing on a private pond).

New York Fishing License Info

New York Fishing License Requirements:

Everyone must have a valid fishing license in their possession while fishing, except:

  • Persons under 16 years of age.
  • When fishing waters of the Marine District or in the Hudson River south of the Troy Barrier Dam.
    Note: A fishing license is required on the entire length of all Hudson River tributaries south of the Troy Dam to the Tappan Zee Bridge even if the tributary is subject to tidal flow.
  • When fishing on licensed fishing preserves.
  • Citizen-resident owners, lessees and citizen members of their immediate families occupying and cultivating farm lands, when fishing on their own lands.
  • Persons holding farm fish pond licenses and members of their immediate families, when fishing on waters covered by their licenses.
  • Resident parties at United States Veterans Administration hospitals, Department of Mental Hygiene institutions, and Department of Health rehabilitation hospitals, and inmates at Division of Youth rehabilitation centers. License Privileges and Requirements

A fishing license or combined hunting and fishing license entitles the holder to: take fish by angling, spearing, hooking, longbow, and tip ups; take frogs by spearing, catching with the hands or by use of a club or hook; and take bait fish for personal use, all as provided by the laws and regulations of the Department of Environmental Conservation:

  • The holder of a license shall have such license on the holder's person while exercising any privilege of that license.
  • The holder of a license shall exhibit it on demand to any police officer, peace office, or the owner, lessee, or other person in control of the lands or waters on which the license holder is present.
  • No license authorizes the holder to trespass upon private lands or waters or interfere with property belonging to another person.

Fishing License Requirements:

A current license, signed in ink and displayed (attach to a hat or outer garment), is required of persons age 16 and over to fish or angle for any species of fish and to take fishbait or baitfish. Casting and/or retrieving whether by rod, reel and line, or by handline, for oneself or another person, requires a current license unless specifically exempted by law. Licenses and trout/salmon stamps can be obtained 1 of 3 ways:

  • Licenses and stamps can be purchased at one of over 1,300 License Issuing Agents, County Treasurer offices, or Fish & Boat Commission offices. Go to a list of our agents
  • You can buy one online with a credit card. Go to the Outdoor Shop.
  • You can print and complete our online application, then send it to the address listed along with a check or money order.

In addition to the license fee, a fee of $.75 for each license and $.50 for each stamp is charged by the issuing agent.

NOTE: You qualify for a RESIDENT fishing license if you are a bona fide resident of Pennsylvania. You must show positive proof of permanent residency to qualify for a Resident license. Senior Resident and Lifetime licenses are available to those persons at anytime during the year in which they will become age 65.
