Looking for a great family activity?  Organizations throughout the country are actively working to conserve our waterways.  Contact your local Department of Natural Resources or one of these organizations to find out how you can get involved!  Have fun as a family while making a difference

We've provided a short list to help get you started.  Check your local paper and libraries for more boating, fishing and conservation volunteer opportunities! 

  • Clean Water Network
    The Clean Water Network is an alliance of over 1000 organization that endorse our platform paper, the National Agenda for Clean Water. The Agenda outlines the need for strong clean water safeguards in order to protect public health and the environment.
  • Future Fisherman Society "Hooked On Fishing, Not Drugs"
    Hooked On Fishing - Not on Drugs, is used widely in more than 30 states and territories. In addition to teaching all the basics of safe and ethical angling, this program combines long-term mentoring and positive life skills with conservation education in one powerful and adaptable package.
  • Ocean Conservancy
    The mission of The Ocean Conservancy is to protect ocean ecosystems and conserve the global abundance and diversity of marine wildlife.
  • Tread Lightly
    Tread Lightly!® is a nonprofit organization whose mission is “To empower generations to enjoy the outdoors responsibly through education and restoration.”
  • Trout Unlimited
    With chapters located throughout the US and internationally, Trout Unlimited (TU)’s mission is to conserve, protect and restore North America’s trout and salmon fisheries and their watersheds. TU accomplishes this mission on local, state and national levels with an extensive and dedicated volunteer network.
  • Trust for Public Land
    The Trust for Public Land (TPL) is a national, nonprofit, land conservation organization that conserves land for people to enjoy as parks, community gardens, historic sites, rural lands, and other natural places, ensuring livable communities for generations to come.
  • The Wilderness Society
    Founded in 1935, The Wilderness Society works to protect America's wilderness and to develop a nation-wide network of wild lands through public education, scientific analysis and advocacy.
